Breast Cancer and Mammograms

Breast cancer is a significant issue in women’s healthcare and we take it very seriously. Without added risk factors, 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer. Those odds are even greater in patients with a “primary relative” (mother or sister) with a history of breast cancer.

In addition, other factors may increase the chances of developing breast cancer. We recommend mammograms on all women 40 and older in absence of known additional risk factors, and require them prior to cosmetic breast surgery.
