02 Jan BREAST AUGMENTATION PATIENTS REPORT HIGH SATISFACTION RATES
A recent study published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery reveals some very interesting facts. The study evaluated 225 consecutive women at one month or greater after breast augmentation. Ninety-eight percent of these women said the results met or exceeded their expectations. The average patient age was thirty-four years old. The majority received saline-filled breast implants and the average size was 390 cc. On a ten point scale, they reported an average pain score during recovery of 5.9. On average, they were off work seven days. Eighty-five percent rated their new breast size “just right”, while thirteen percent would have preferred a larger size. Ninety-two percent of these patients reported improved self-esteem after breast augmentation, and sixty-four percent reported an improved quality of life. Before surgery, the majority of women (eighty percent) were self-conscious about their breasts. After surgery, only thirteen percent were self-conscious about them.
