Do you regret getting a tattoo? A change in your life or your image can turn a tattoo into more of a burden than a benefit. We use the ‘Ultralight Q’ laser by Sandstone Medical to provide a solution. With this non-invasive treatment, we can safely remove your tattoo without leaving a scar.
Using an intense beam of laser light, the Ultralight Q breaks up ink particles to remove or significantly lighten your tattoo. The process takes 15-30 minutes. Patients commonly report a stinging sensation during treatment. Afterward, the feeling resembles a mild throbbing, similar to sunburn. Numbing agents or anesthetics can help alleviate this pain. During the weeks that follow the procedure, your body’s natural healing and cleansing process will absorb the ink fragments.
For effective results, multiple treatments are usually required. The number needed will vary with each patient and their particular tattoo. Factors like tattoo location, size, and ink depth will need to be considered. We allow 8 weeks between treatments to allow optimum healing.
Recovery following laser tattoo removal
After just a single treatment, you will notice a reduction in the tattoo. For a few days your skin may exhibit some lightening, discoloration or swelling. Anti-bacterial ointment should be applied to prevent infection during this time.
Hypopigmentation can occur, making the skin lose its pigment for a prolonged period of time. (It should return to normal after 6-12 months.) Because ink used by tattoo artists can vary substantially, treatment outcomes may vary as well, and some tattoos will only be partially removed.
