In a previous post I discussed a rare cancer linked to a specific type breast implant. This cancer is referred to as BIA-ALCL ( Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma). World-wide, about 550 cases have been reported with 33 deaths. This lymphoma is associated with textured breast implants. For a number of reasons, I have not used textured implants.
The Allergan company has recalled textured implants that have not been implanted into patients. I exclusively use smooth walled breast implants, which have not been associated with this specific lymphoma.
